The Road Remembers

The biggest grievance of the alpha falls today: you no longer have to hold your phone open like a lantern for the Order to count your steps.

New in this patch

• Pocket your phone — the walk goes on — start a steps or trek quest, lock the screen, and walk. The road remembers: when you return, every step is counted, and a goal reached while you were away completes the moment you open the app. Even if the app is closed entirely, the Order consults your device’s health records to honour the distance.
• Honest resting times on photo quests — after any photograph, every camera button now shows the short breath the Order takes between verifications, counting down before your eyes. No more silent refusals on a quick second shot.
• Smoother arrival for new pathfinders — signing in with Google for the first time now leads you straight down the intended road (no more bouncing back to the gate), and after signing up you’re told plainly: confirm your email, and which inbox holds the writ. The resend is one tap away.
• Writs that keep their colours — the Order’s emails no longer fade to white in certain mail halls; the ink and parchment hold.

Beneath the surface

The Order’s own Ledger grew sturdier too: walks survive a closed app, a locked screen, even a restarted device — and the count stays honest, for only steps the device itself witnessed are entered. Typed-in numbers hold no weight here.
